Bottelary Road: once a street, now a destination!

Category Local News

The then and now of Bottelary Road is quite an evolutionary adventure. All the wine farms, wedding venues and restaurants have a lot of their success thanks to this beautiful road that snakes so elegantly through these companies and farms. Conveniently linking and creating easy access between two major hubs, namely Stellenbosch and Brackenfell, Bottelary Road has for many years connected people and farms, more so now than ever.

When it comes to fine dining, golf courses, wedding venues, hiking, mountain biking, and extravagant wine farms, most people tend to think of the Durbanville, Stellenbosch, and Constantia wine valley. Many of you would be correct - each of the above-mentioned wine valleys has an abundance of delectable options to choose from, however, the restaurant, wine, and wedding scene has started blooming along the Bottelary Hills route and have been busy with intense renovations and some have had complete makeovers.

Some of these amazing venues include the likes of Hazendal, Kuilsriver Golf Course, Devonvale Golf and Wine Estate, Mooiplaas, Bellevue, The Bottelary Hills Renosterveld Conservancy as well as Klein Bottelary function venue. Each of these offers an array of activities that are bound to tantalize your taste buds or grab your attention.

Hazendal has all the boxes ticked, from fine dining and wine tasting to a put-put course and an extravagant play complex for the kids. Many brides have had their dream weddings made a reality at this beautiful venue and Haazendal has just had an exquisite renovation to boot.

Across the road from Haazendal is Kuilsriver golf course that has hosted various successful golf days for various companies in the vicinity and offers a lovely restaurant for all after a pot of golf.

Having been renovated for about 2 years, Bellevue has become so popular that one can almost not get a seat without making a booking. They most definitely must be doing something right. Something tells me it must be the comfortable atmosphere created by the spacious verandah and the pizza oven that is visible for everyone to see. Wine connoisseurs thoroughly enjoy their pairings - they offer an old-time dinner favourite as part of their pairing menu. You guessed it correctly! Pizza and wine. 4 Elegantly tasting wines are carefully paired with 4 of Bellevue's signature pizzas. Not only are they popular for wine tasting and an afternoon out but also for their unique venue that is perfect for small weddings or any other function.
